Venue Facilities

Pervasive 2009 will be held at the exceptional Nougaku hall in the temple district at the center of Nara. It is only a short walk from the major temple, gardens and historic sites, and also close to the city center and shopping districts. Nougaku hall is an exceptional place for itself, with the lecture hall built as a traditional Japanese theater. Nevertheless, power plugs and high-speed wireless connection are ubiquitously available. Workshops and tutorials are also held in smaller rooms at the same site.

Transportation Accessibility

There are several options how to reach Nara. Two close by airports give you high flexibility. Entering Japan in Tokyo gives you the opportunity to add some additional sightseeing to your trip. The Japanese public transport system is highly reliable and punctual. Japanese transport timetables can be requested using Hyperdia service.

1) From Kansai International Airport (KIX) to Nara
- Take a limousine bus from KIX to JR Nara station.
- Take a public bus to Kintetsu Nara Station or some of the hotels below.
- Trip time from airport to the conference hall is about 1 hour 30 minutes.

2) From Osaka International Airport to Nara
- Take a bus from aiport to Nara city.
- Take the JR Yamatoji Line to Nara.
- Total trip time to conference site: about 1 hour 40 minutes

3) From Narita Airport (NRT) to Nara
- Take a train from the Narita airport to Tokyo station.
- Take a Shinkan-sen (new bullet train) from Tokyo station to Kyoto.
- Take a Kintetsu-line from Kyoto to Nara.
- Trip time from Narita to Conference site is about 5 hours, but you should do some stops in between (Tokyo, Yokohama area, Kyoto).
(Note that you can take a domestic flight from NRT to KIX as well)

After you got the Kintetsu Nara Station, you can walk or take a taxi to the conference site. The distance is about 2km from the station to the conference venue (right side after leaving the station. Follow the streets where you see the hills on the horizon).
